Mini-Rant: Gun Control

One thing that I don't understand is the concept of gun control, I am one of the most liberal, tree hugging, do as you will, live and let live, hippies that you will ever find, but even I know that in a crazy chaotic world like this, you need to be armed to the teeth or you are not going to survive. The only thing that happens when guns are removed from the public, is that criminals have them and we don't. Guns, swords, ammo, nukes, etcetera are all necessary to protect ourselves from external threats, be they thieves, gangs, foreign threats, or the common alien invasions, without weapons an individual is defenseless.

I understand that a weapon in the wrong hand is dangerous, I understand that many accidental deaths are caused by guns in the home, and I understand the lives that are lost annually due to gun violence. However you must understand that taking away guns from the public does not protect the public, it only leaves them vulnerable to those who have guns, it's a matter of personal defense. Please understand that guns are not the problem, violence is a human trait, stop trying to remove guns from the individual and focus more so on weapons education courses, campaigns against crime, hate prevention and so forth, the enemy is and always has been violent hate, not defensive tools.
